Pop down to Mill House Cafe for a bargain

Posted by Mill House on Thursday, February 28, 2019

Great location

In Touch is very  lucky to be near some lovely eateries in the East Neuk of Fife and I stopped off at Mill House Cafe, Bowhouse Farm, St Monans last week after doing my last treatment of the week, nearby in Pittenweem.

Supporting local businesses

As well as amazing wood fired pizzas Mill House Cafe is offering it’s customers information about other local businesses with leaflets and business cards being displayed in the downstairs restaurant.

It’s a great way  for Mill House Cafe to support and work alongside other businesses in the community and In Touch dropped off a batch today for display.

Pizza and a pampering discount

If you are quick the first ten cards on display offer Mill House Cafe customers a £5 discount on In Touch treatments. Pop down to Mill House Cafe soon for lovely and highly recommended food and an In Touch bargain.

Nomination for Holistic Scotland Magazine Wellbeing Award 2020

Holistic Scotland - Wellbeing Awards 2020In Touch Therapies is delighted to have just nominated Queens Cross Housing Association for the Workplace Wellbeing Initiative of the Year Award!

Read onto find out why.

Partnership Working

In Touch Therapies in Fife and Queens Cross Housing Association in Glasgow, have been working in partnership since 2014 to deliver regular complementary therapies to a busy front line workforce. The employees at Queens Cross work directly with the public and tenants of the Firhill and Maryhill area of Glasgow. The Association provides high quality social housing as well as a wide range of community services.

 From Small Beginnings

In the summer of 2014, one of the Queens Cross Housing Managers  was one of the first to take up an offer from In Touch Therapies to experiment with taster events in the workplace. The complementary therapies of indian head massage and reflexology were initially delivered for free onsite at Queens Cross. The events were such a success with the staff that they became a regular feature of an extensive workplace wellbeing programme that is coordinated by the Healthy Working Lives group, made up of Queens Cross staff. The delivery of the whole programme is the responsibility of  Dianne Mathewson, Human Resources Officer.

Why is Queens Cross unique in its approach?

Queens Cross offered complementary therapies to staff way before other organisations were considering it. Queens Cross has constantly adapted and developed how they use In Touch to support the health and wellbeing of their workforce. In Touch is now onsite at Queens Cross on three Tuesdays out of every month, offering 9 half four appointments each day.

Dianne is central to the partnership work between In Touch and Queens Cross. Dianne coordinates the appointments for In Touch, circulating the dates on the intranet and using Eventbrite as a booking system for her colleagues. Dianne provides In Touch with a list of appointments on the day. The organisation has agreed that staff can have the time for the appointments and additionally they subsidise the cost of each treatment so that the cost to employees is only £10 per treatment. If there are any cancelled bookings Dianne makes sure these are filled and as a result In Touch is always fully booked for all 9 appointments.

Senior Management Support

The staff pay the treatment cost directly from their salary and In Touch is able to invoice the Association for the entire amount, avoiding time being spent on the day dealing with cash and other payments. Queens Cross provides the same dedicated room each time and In Touch is now able to store a massage table there permanently. As part of a building wide initiative the wellbeing room now has a beautiful and relaxing photographic mural of the local canal, with the bold statement Improving Health and Wellbeing, on the main wall!

Members of the senior management team attend appointments regularly including the Chief Executive, setting a great example to the staff team about the importance of wellbeing.  Finally staff can book double appointments and staff who have chronic health conditions have been supported to make regular  use of the treatments. Appointments have also been used to support staff as they return to work after a period of illness.

In Touch is very grateful to have such a positive working relationship with Queens Cross Housing Association and to be part of their Health Working Lives programme. In Touch believes that the range of wellbeing supports offered to staff is unique and nominated Queens Cross for this award for their ongoing efforts and innovative approaches.

In Touch is off on holiday

After a busy summer I am looking forward to taking two weeks holiday and will be back on Monday 16 September.

This summer has seen an increase in individual bookings at In Touch,  as well as more workplaces offering more well being sessions than this time last year.

So it’s a lovely positive time to take a break and recharge my batteries.

I will be switching off my work emails and messages whilst I am off but will get back to you on Monday 16 September if you get in contact when I’m on holiday.

A big thank you to all my lovely clients for keeping me busy and I am looking forward to seeing you all for more relaxing treatments in the autumn.

Relax into 2019 with In Touch Therapies

Keen to avoid the barrage of posts about resolutions? Tired of the “new year, new you” theme that can dominate at this time of year? Read on to find out how this photo inspired In Touch to have a different type of new year message to share.

Milly, mindfulness and getting back to nature

Milly, this very relaxed bundle of fluff,  has taken to regularly chilling out in amongst the Buddha’s, candles and plants. When I took this photo last night I realised that this image, was the message I wanted to share at the start of 2019.

Milly has only been with us 3 months and has taught me so much already about living in the moment. Enjoying the little things and the benefits of regular walks in nature.

She has managed to keep me very busy. Whilst also getting me to stop and enjoy the view, the weather or just take some time out to get a doggy hug. Milly has made sure I am getting time away from work. She has also reintroduced me to walking as exercise and a time for thinking things over and problem solving.

I’m not suggesting everyone should get a dog or puppy or playing down the huge responsibility and lifestyle change that comes along with being a dog owner. But Milly has reminded me of the importance of playing, resting and taking the time to enjoy the little things. A valuable lesson for me at the start of a new year.

Resolve to relax more!

Hopefully this brief shaggy dog story encourages you to think of your own ways to rest, relax and take some time out for you.

Complementary therapies offer similar benefits, creating time and space for relaxation that can bring health and wellbeing improvements. This includes the focus and energy we all need for goal setting and planning at the start of a new year.  From individual treatments in your own home to workplace wellbeing sessions, In Touch can support you with your plans for 2019 through the benefits of reflexology or indian head massage.

A very happy new year from In Touch Therapies and Milly the very relaxed Golden Doodle.

A post card from the East Neuk of Fife

Summer 2018 is the first full tourist season that In Touch has been located in the beautiful East Neuk, with it’s own treatment room, and mobile services too.

The lovelyIn Touch Therapies - Summer 2018 blog sunny weather we have all been enjoying has brought lots of holiday makers and day trip visitors to the East Neuk and In Touch has been fortunate to benefit with an increase in bookings from people who are enjoying their holiday in the area.

There is so much to see and do here with the picturesque fishing villages, arts festivals, food events, golf courses and distillery tours to name a few, and thats before you consider the coastal path and the countryside options for walking, cycling or running.

With all these activity options it’s not surprising that visitors are also looking for ways to totally unwind and are booking indian head massage or reflexology treatments as part of their stay.

The In Touch treatment room is on Colinsburgh Main Street, just two miles from Elie.

It’s handy for Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail, and St Andrews is also nearby.  So it is well placed to offer further opportunities to enjoy your well earned break.  Dont forget that In Touch can also offer mobile treatments in your holiday accommodation, including caravans and cabins.

” Now had 3 amazing treatments by Fiona over the past few months. I found the treatments both relaxing and beneficial in reducing areas of tension in both my jaw and shoulders. Fiona is very professional and put me at ease quickly. I would highly recommend Fiona for a treatment tailored to you. Even if you aren’t aware you have any problem areas ..she will find them and work on them. Already looking forward to my next treatment. Keep up the good work Fiona 👍”
